The MXS 5.0 8-Step-Charging-Process: The Perfect Way to Care for Your Car

10 April 2025

As Car Care Month continues, it is a great time to learn more about the CTEK MXS 5.0. This charger has the capability to keep your car running and keep you on the go at all times. The key to its success is the 8 step charging process that this charger follows. Simply connect the clamps on the MXS 5.0 to the battery, plug it in at the mains, and you are ready to start the 8 steps. This charger also has convenient indicator lights that inform you if you have connected improperly. So let’s take a look at the process and how easy it is to keep your car charged.

These 8 Simple Yet Innovative Steps Keep Your Car’s Battery at its Best

The 8 Step Process

Step 1: Desulphation. By using pulsing voltage, the MXS 5.0 removes sulphates from the lead plates of the battery and this restores the battery’s capacity.

Step 2: Soft start. During this phase the battery is tested to see if it can accept a charge. If the battery can accept a charge then the charging can begin.

Step 3: Bulk. The maximum current is applied to the battery. The battery is charged up to approximately 80% of its capacity.

Step 4: Absorption. By the end of this phase the battery should be ready to use. The battery is charged with a declining current and maximizes up to 100% capacity.

Step 5: Analyze. The battery is now tested again to see if it can hold a charge. If the battery is unable to hold a charge then it may need to be replaced.

Step 6: Recond. If it is necessary, the reconditioning function is used on severely discharged batteries.

Step 7: Float. By this phase, the battery will be fully charged. The battery’s voltage is maintained at its maximum level by applying a constant voltage charge.

Step 8: Pulse. To keep you on the go, the battery is maintained at 95-100% capacity as the charger monitors it, applying a pulse when necessary to keep the battery fully charged.

Exceptional Battery Charging for the Best Charging Experience

The MXS 5.0 is the perfect battery for multiple battery types, and with its comprehensive 8 step charging process allows you to have the best battery charging experience possible. Built to optimize charging in all types of weather it also is perfect for vehicles with higher demand battery charging as well. Give your vehicle what it needs to stay in top form during the Car Care month of April!

Road trip ready: how to avoid a flat battery ruining your summer escape

There’s nothing quite like heading off in a motorhome during summer. Longer days, spontaneous stopovers, coastal roads, mountain campsites and evenings spent outdoors – it’s what motorhome life is all about. But summer adventures also place extra demand on your vehicle’s battery system. Fridges run constantly, lighting stays on later into the evening, phones and devices are always charging and many motorhomes sit unused between trips.
