With more electric vehicles on the road, the demand for reliable charging is increasing everywhere—including at community hubs like St Botvid in Huddinge Municipality. To meet this growing need, the church has invested in a modern, future-proof EV charging solution built to handle both today’s requirements and tomorrow’s advancements.

To provide seamless and scalable charging, eight CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3 (CC3) dual-outlet chargers were installed, allowing up to 16 EVs to charge simultaneously. These units are mounted on black-lacquered charging poles with solid concrete foundations, ensuring both durability and a clean installation. To optimize energy usage, the system is supported by a CGC 100 load balancing controller and an Ethernet switch, while EasyPark manages payments. The church oversees daily administration, with continued support from CTEK when needed.

A Well-Executed Installation Backed by Expertise

A successful project starts with the right expertise, and that was certainly the case here. Installer Anders Weeke, who had previously attended CTEK’s installer training, was able to complete the setup efficiently, thanks in part to the fact that all materials were provided by CTEK. This made the process smoother and ensured a high-quality result. During commissioning, the CTEK team was on-site, overseeing final adjustments and making sure everything was running optimally from day one.

At the heart of this project is the CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3, a future-proof charging station built for reliability, security, and flexibility. Each unit delivers up to 2×22 kW, supporting both present and upcoming EV models. With OCPP 2.0.1 compliance, CC3 is ready for Plug & Charge, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), and smart energy management, ensuring that the infrastructure remains relevant and adaptable as charging technology advances. Built to withstand tough conditions, IK10/IP54 protection ensures the chargers are resistant to both vandalism and harsh weather.

From an installer’s perspective, Anders Weeke was particularly pleased with the ease of installation and advanced features of CC3:

“CTEK has really thought about the installer in this latest version of CC3. The setup process is efficient, and the modular design makes installation straightforward. The ability to integrate load balancing and future-proof features like Plug & Charge ensures that our clients are getting a system that will serve them well for years to come.”

Growing Demand Leads to Further Expansion

The success of this installation has sparked further interest in CTEK’s solutions. Huddinge Church has since added another CC3 unit, this time specifically for church staff. To provide controlled access, an RFID authentication system was integrated, making it easy to track usage while keeping it secure.

In addition, an older charger at Huddinge Church was upgraded with a new Type 1 charging cable, which was permanently locked into place after previous theft issues. This simple but effective upgrade ensures that drivers with Type 1 vehicles still have access to reliable charging.

As more organizations recognize the need for high-quality, future-proof EV infrastructure, additional CC3 units are now being installed at other sites in Huddinge. The growing demand for reliable charging solutions highlights the trust in CTEK’s technology and the long-term value of investing in smart, scalable charging infrastructure.

Key Advantages of the Installation

This project is a great example of how future-ready EV charging solutions can be seamlessly integrated into an existing site. By incorporating NANOGRID load balancing, the system ensures power is distributed efficiently across all charging points, preventing unnecessary strain on the grid while maximizing charging availability.

Security is another major advantage—CC3 is designed with built-in cybersecurity measures to protect against unauthorized access, making it a safe and reliable choice for long-term operation. With EasyPark managing payments, users enjoy a hassle-free charging experience, while the church benefits from a straightforward and flexible administration model.

A Step Towards the Future

By implementing CTEK’s future-proof CC3 charging stations, St Botvid has set a high standard for public EV infrastructure, ensuring both visitors and staff have access to a reliable, high-performance charging solution. With ongoing support from CTEK, the church is well-positioned to expand and adapt as the EV landscape continues to evolve.

Road trip ready: how to avoid a flat battery ruining your summer escape

There’s nothing quite like heading off in a motorhome during summer. Longer days, spontaneous stopovers, coastal roads, mountain campsites and evenings spent outdoors – it’s what motorhome life is all about. But summer adventures also place extra demand on your vehicle’s battery system. Fridges run constantly, lighting stays on later into the evening, phones and devices are always charging and many motorhomes sit unused between trips.
