CTEK’s CS ONE provides adaptive charging throughout Ultima RS build

6 February 2025

Performance cars come equipped with a range of electronic systems that demand a healthy battery. The Ultima RS is no different.  Nigel Dean of V8Creative took on the challenge of building his own Ultima RS from a tailored self-assembly package of parts and documented the build on YouTube.

When it came to maintaining the battery, the Ultima needed something special.

The CTEK CS ONE was the perfect choice as Nigel explains:

“The Ultima is a car that I take out on occasion, and not for particularly long periods of time or distances. The car spends a certain amount of time in storage, and it is essential that the battery is well maintained to ensure that the car starts on the button, every time.

The Ultima is no different to many other cars in that they all have components that use a small power supply, the Chevrolet performance ECU uses the battery for its memory and the immobiliser and blinking LED lights also have a memory which require power along with the Raptor 12 volt, 8 Channel Wireless RF Steering Wheel Button System.

Unlike traditional chargers, CTEK’s CS ONE is equipped with smart technology that automatically adjusts the charging process based on the battery’s needs. This prevents overcharging, which can damage the battery, while also ensuring it remains fully charged during storage periods.  This alleviated all my worries around overcharging or undercharging, Plus, with no buttons to press or modes to select it was easy.

Another key requirement from the charger was the ability to leave the charger in the loom while still being able to close the clam shell, and without the need for crocodile clips.  This is where the CTEK INDICATOR PANEL came in, it is designed for permanent installation with a direct connection to the battery and enables me to charge the battery without the need to use unsightly crocodile clips.  The INDICATOR PANEL was easily recessed into the bodywork meaning the CS ONE could be quickly and easily connected to the battery.”

CTEK’s smart chargers are designed with advanced technology to optimise battery performance, no matter what the vehicle. The CTEK CS ONE automatically detects the type of battery and adjusts the charging programme accordingly, ensuring your battery is charged safely and effectively. Plus, its built-in monitoring capabilities mean you’ll know exactly when your battery is ready to go.  The perfect solution for all of your requirements, no matter what you drive.

Car battery maintainers: keep your battery healthy all year

A car battery maintainer will deliver a controlled low current to keep a vehicle's battery in peak condition, making it ideal for vehicles which are parked for extended periods of time. A car battery maintainer, such as those offered by CTEK, helps prevent battery drain and extends battery life. This article explains what a battery maintainer is, how it differs from a standard charger, its benefits for seldom used and seasonal vehicles, practical setup advice for garages and car ports, and a spotlight on CTEK's NXT 5.

Road trip ready: how to avoid a flat battery ruining your summer escape

There’s nothing quite like heading off in a motorhome during summer. Longer days, spontaneous stopovers, coastal roads, mountain campsites and evenings spent outdoors – it’s what motorhome life is all about. But summer adventures also place extra demand on your vehicle’s battery system. Fridges run constantly, lighting stays on later into the evening, phones and devices are always charging and many motorhomes sit unused between trips.
