New variant strengthens accessibility, security and AFIR readiness for public EV charging

CTEK today [February 4] launched CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3i (CC3i), a new variant of the market-leading CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3 EV charger. The product was launched today at Elmässan Syd, the leading installer and electrical trade show in southern Sweden.

CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3i introduces a large, integrated touchscreen, that enhances vision, accessibility and security for public and semi-public charging environments.

Clear Vision for Public Charging

The display on the new CC3i features a new user interface with clear, easy-to-read information on charging status, energy consumption, pricing and instructions for use. This helps improve user-friendliness for drivers, who can easily keep track of both charging costs and charging time, while the information on the screen increases transparency for operators and property owners.

Secure Payment with Dynamic QR Codes

The integrated touchscreen enables unique, rolling QR codes for ad-hoc payments, generated directly on the charger. This removes the risks associated with static QR stickers, reducing the potential for tampering, duplication and fraudulent redirects.

AFIR-Ready by Design

CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3i is designed to align with AFIR requirements for public charging infrastructure, including ad-hoc payment access and clear user information at the point of charge. The platform is also hardware-ready for upcoming AFIR-mandated services, including Plug & Charge and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G).

Planned software releases during 2026 will enable these capabilities, ensuring CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3i remains a future-ready solution as European public charging requirements evolve.

Proven Platform, Smarter Interface

Built on the proven CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3 platform, CC3i offers single or dual 22 kW AC charging, high uptime, robust construction, and seamless integration with CTEK’s NANOGRID™ load-balancing ecosystem.

Henk Lubberts, President, Professional Division at CTEK said: “With CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3i, we are building on a proven platform known for its robustness, high uptime and reliability in demanding public environments, while enhancing it with clearer vision, stronger security and greater regulatory readiness.

“The integrated touchscreen improves accessibility and transparency for users, while dynamic QR codes significantly reduce payment security risks. CC3i is designed to support operators as public charging requirements continue to evolve across Europe.”

Road trip ready: how to avoid a flat battery ruining your summer escape

There’s nothing quite like heading off in a motorhome during summer. Longer days, spontaneous stopovers, coastal roads, mountain campsites and evenings spent outdoors – it’s what motorhome life is all about. But summer adventures also place extra demand on your vehicle’s battery system. Fridges run constantly, lighting stays on later into the evening, phones and devices are always charging and many motorhomes sit unused between trips.
