Why test your vehicle battery?

A vehicle that starts today may still have a battery that needs attention. Testing gives you a clearer picture of its condition, helping you identify low charge or signs of deterioration before they disrupt your plans.

It also helps answer an important question: does the battery need charging, replacing or further investigation? A low state of charge does not automatically mean a battery has reached the end of its life. Testing, charging where appropriate and retesting can help avoid unnecessary replacement.

Checking cranking performance and charging system output provides further insight, helping identify potential problems beyond the battery itself. Acting on those findings can reduce the risk of unexpected starting difficulties and being left stranded.

CTEK BATTERY TESTER for home use and everyday checks

The CTEK BATTERY TESTER is the practical starting point for drivers, vehicle enthusiasts and workshops that want quick answers without printed reports.

Use it before a long journey, after a vehicle has been standing unused or as part of regular battery care. In a workshop, it is a convenient tool for routine checks when a vehicle arrives for servicing or repairs.

Connect the clamps and follow the on-screen prompts. The tester draws power directly from the battery being checked and displays results on a clear 2.8-inch colour screen.

Despite its compact size, it goes beyond a basic voltage reading. It checks battery health, charge status and internal resistance, alongside cranking performance and charging system output. Its lightweight design makes it easy to store and keep close at hand, while a protective rubber bumper adds durability and a secure grip.

Choose it if: you want straightforward battery diagnostics at home or a practical tool for simple, regular workshop checks.

CTEK BATTERY TESTER PRO for professional workshops

The CTEK BATTERY TESTER PRO is designed for workshops that need to turn diagnostic findings into clear service recommendations.

Alongside battery, cranking and charging system testing, it offers detailed insights including ripple voltage testing to help identify charging system issues. Its 2.8-inch colour display makes results easy to review, while the built-in thermal printer produces reports on the spot.

That reporting capability is particularly valuable when discussing work with customers. Showing the findings helps explain why charging, replacement or further investigation is recommended, giving customers evidence to support their decision.

For busy workshops, it supports a consistent approach to battery checks and clearer communication between technicians, service advisers and customers.

Choose it if: battery testing forms part of your professional service and you want printed reports to explain findings and support recommendations.

Make testing part of your battery care routine

At home, regular testing helps you understand when action is needed. If a compatible 12V battery needs charging, a smart charger such as the CTEK NXT 5 can replenish its charge before you test again. Poor battery health or starting and charging system concerns may require professional attention.

For workshops, CTEK encourages checking the battery in every vehicle that comes through the door. Routine testing helps uncover overlooked issues, identify genuine service needs and give customers confidence in the advice they receive.

CTEK becomes EV charging partner to the Swedish Ski Association

CTEK has entered into a new agreement with the Swedish Ski Association, providing CC3 EV charging infrastructure at Riksskidstadion in Falun, Sweden’s Alpine National Arena and the Swedish Ski Association’s Åre office. Delivered alongside installation partner Kalema e-Mobility, the charging solutions will support electric passenger cars and support vehicles used by athletes, coaches, staff and the wider organisation. Falun, Sweden – CTEK, a global leader in battery charging and electric vehicle charging, has entered into a new agreement with the Swedish Ski Association to provide EV charging infrastructure at Riksskidstadion in Falun, Sweden’s Alpine National Arena and the Swedish Ski Association’s Åre office. Under the agreement, CTEK is providing charging solutions from its CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3 (CC3) product family. The project is being delivered alongside installation partner Kalema e-Mobility, which is carrying out the installations at Riksskidstadion, Sweden’s Alpine National Arena and the Swedish Ski Association’s Åre office. The chargers will support electric passenger cars and support vehicles used by athletes, coaches and staff, as well as other electric vehicles operated by the Swedish Ski Association. They will provide reliable and convenient charging when vehicles are at Riksskidstadion, Sweden’s Alpine National Arena or the Swedish Ski Association’s Åre office, supporting the Association’s continued transition towards more sustainable transport. For the Swedish Ski Association, the drive to constantly improve goes beyond athletic performance. The Association believes it is equally important to keep improving the smart, climate-friendly solutions that support its everyday operations. “We are delighted to work with the Swedish Ski Association as its EV charging partner. Elite sport depends not only on what happens on the track or slopes, but also on the people, vehicles and infrastructure working behind the scenes. By providing our CC3 charging technology and working alongside Kalema e-Mobility, we can help support the Association’s everyday operations and its transition towards more electrified transport,” said Johanna Mogren Sundqvist, Sales Manager EVSE at CTEK. Developed in Sweden for professional EV charging, CC3 can be adapted to different organisations, vehicle requirements and parking environments. The EV chargers can provide up to 22 kW per outlet and support connectivity and load balancing. This allows the available electrical capacity to be used efficiently while enabling the charging infrastructure to expand as the Swedish Ski Association’s requirements grow. "For us, this investment is about creating the conditions for a smarter and more sustainable operation. Our athletes, coaches and staff travel extensively throughout the year, and reliable charging infrastructure is becoming an increasingly important part of our everyday operations. CTEK combines proven technology with strong local roots in Dalarna, making them a natural supplier as we continue to develop our organisation and reduce the environmental impact of our transport solutions," said Johan Gräfnings, Swedish Ski Association. The agreement connects CTEK’s home in Falun, Dalarna, with the Swedish Ski Association’s activities at Sweden’s Alpine National Arena and its Åre office in Jämtland. For CTEK, it is an opportunity to support the Swedish Ski Association and its national teams with technology that makes a practical difference behind the scenes. The collaboration will also give CTEK agreed brand visibility across the Swedish Ski Association’s activities.
