CTEK CHARGESTORM® CONNECTED 3 is OZEV Approved – What This Means for the UK EV Charging Market

12 December 2024

CTEK, a global leader in EV charging technology, has achieved a significant milestone with its CHARGESTORM® CONNECTED 3 (CC3) receiving official approval from the UK’s Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV). This certification underscores the CC3’s compliance with stringent UK standards for safety, smart functionality, and future-ready EV charging solutions.

With OZEV approval, businesses, landlords, and eligible renters or flat owners can now access government-backed grants for the installation of this cutting-edge chargepoint. But what exactly does this mean, and why is it important for the UK’s EV charging infrastructure?

Understanding OZEV Approval and Its Significance

The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) is a UK government body dedicated to accelerating the shift towards electric mobility by supporting EV adoption and charging infrastructure development. To encourage installations, OZEV provides financial incentives, but only for chargepoints that meet strict safety, cybersecurity, and smart functionality requirements.

Receiving OZEV approval means that the CHARGESTORM® CONNECTED 3 qualifies for these grant schemes, making it an attractive and cost-effective choice for businesses, landlords, and renters looking to install EV charging solutions.

How the CHARGESTORM® CONNECTED 3 Benefits from OZEV Approval

The OZEV approval enables CTEK’s CC3 chargepoint to be included in several grant schemes, such as:

  • The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS): Businesses can claim up to £350 per charging socket for up to 40 sockets, reducing the cost of deploying multiple charging stations.
  • The EV Chargepoint Grant: Renters and flat owners can receive up to £350 toward the installation of an OZEV-approved charger, making EV charging more accessible for those without a private driveway.
  • These grants are available until 31 March 2025, so now is the ideal time to apply.

This approval positions CTEK’s CC3 as a leading solution in the UK’s evolving EV infrastructure landscape, providing affordability, reliability, and long-term value for customers.

Why CHARGESTORM® CONNECTED 3 Stands Out in the Market

Designed for both present and future EV charging needs, the CC3 delivers an exceptional combination of power, smart features, and ease of use. Some of its key attributes include:

  • High-Powered Charging – Supports up to 22kW AC charging per socket, available in single or dual-outlet configurations.
  • Advanced Connectivity – Integrates seamlessly with backend systems via Wi-Fi, LAN, or optional 4G.
  • Intelligent Load Balancing – Features CTEK’s NANOGRID™ technology for dynamic load balancing across multiple chargepoints.
  • Future-Proof Technology – Ready for ISO15118, Plug & Charge, and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology.
  • Optimised for Installers – Easy mounting and installation design reduces setup time and costs.

Driving the UK Towards a Greener Future

Commenting on the approval, Daniel Forsberg, Marketing Manager at CTEK, said:

"Receiving OZEV approval for the CHARGESTORM® CONNECTED 3 is a major step in making our advanced charging solutions more accessible to UK customers. This certification reinforces our commitment to delivering safe, intelligent, and future-proof EV charging that supports the country’s transition to sustainable mobility. We are proud to offer a product that not only meets government requirements but also enhances the overall EV charging experience."

CTEK’s commitment to innovation and high-quality EV charging solutions aligns perfectly with the UK government’s objectives for a low-carbon transport system. By achieving OZEV approval, the CHARGESTORM® CONNECTED 3 is an accessible and incentivised option for businesses and individuals looking to invest in future-proof EV charging technology.

As the transition to electric mobility continues, CTEK remains at the forefront, providing solutions that are not just compliant but also designed to enhance the user experience and optimise energy efficiency.
