Charging the Future in Inner Harbor, Norrköping – 96 CTEK CHARGESTORM® CONNECTED 3 EV Chargers Deployed

18 April 2025

The ambitious redevelopment of Inner Harbor in Norrköping is setting a new benchmark for sustainable urban development. With a vision of creating a vibrant and innovative city district by the water, the project integrates cutting-edge technology, modern architecture, and environmental responsibility. At the heart of this transformation is a state-of-the-art parking facility, Parking Svanen, which features 96 CTEK CHARGESTORM® CONNECTED 3 (CC3) electric vehicle chargers. This collaboration between Viginti, CTEK, Parkster, EMI, and Parcum is a key step toward establishing a future-proof infrastructure that supports the growing demand for EV charging.

Inner Harbor: A Visionary Urban Development

The Inner Harbor district, situated along the Motala Ström river, is a cornerstone of Norrköping's transformation into a sustainable and inclusive urban space. Once an industrial hub dating back to the 1600s, the harbor area is now evolving into a thriving residential and commercial district. Over 3,000 homes, modern workplaces, and retail spaces will form a lively environment where art, greenery, and innovative design converge.

As part of this redevelopment, the parking facility Svanen has been designed not just as a utilitarian space but as a visually engaging, safe, and eco-friendly addition to the community. Architect Kai Wartiainen, renowned for his work in sustainable design, has crafted a structure that combines transparency, advanced lighting, and materials like Thermowood and recycled channel plastic, ensuring a balance between functionality and environmental impact.

Parking garage Svanen: Combining Design and Sustainability

Parking garage Svanen is more than a parking structure; it’s a model of architectural and technological excellence. Its design incorporates elements that emphasize user safety, comfort, and sustainability. Features like open façades for improved visibility, LED lighting, and soundscapes contribute to an environment where visitors feel secure. The building’s ecological footprint is minimized through innovative materials and energy-efficient systems.

The inclusion of 96 CTEK CC3 chargers further enhances the facility’s functionality, aligning it with the city’s green mobility goals. Daniel Forsberg, Marketing Manager EVSE at CTEK, highlights the significance of this collaboration:

"The deployment of CTEK’s CHARGESTORM® CONNECTED 3 chargers in parking garage Svanen represents a pivotal moment in Norrköping’s commitment to sustainability. By integrating future-ready technology into this landmark project, we’re empowering residents and visitors with reliable, scalable charging solutions that meet the demands of tomorrow."

CTEK CHARGESTORM® CONNECTED 3: Future-Proof EV Charging

The CTEK CHARGESTORM® CONNECTED 3 is a high-performance charging solution designed to meet the needs of modern EV users. Its advanced features, including dynamic load balancing, seamless payment integration, and robust hardware, make it an ideal choice for high-traffic areas like Inner Harbor.

Key features include:

  • Dynamic Load Balancing: Ensures efficient energy distribution without overloading the grid.
  • Advanced Connectivity: Compatible with platforms like Parkster for hassle-free payment and usage.
  • Future-Proof Design: Scalable to accommodate technological advancements and increased demand.

Alexander Gil, a key contributor to the project, shared his thoughts on the importance of sustainability:

"Future-proofing our infrastructure is crucial for enabling the transition to green mobility. The installation of CTEK’s CC3 chargers in the Inner Harbor underscores our commitment to integrating sustainable solutions into urban spaces."

Collaboration for a Greener Future

The success of this project is rooted in strong partnerships. Viginti, a key player in sustainable infrastructure, worked closely with CTEK to ensure the chargers were seamlessly integrated into the facility. The collaboration also extended to Parkster, which provides a user-friendly payment system, making EV charging simple and accessible.

Parking garage Svanen is just one element of the broader transformation of Inner Harbor. This district aims to set a global example for sustainable urban development by combining modern architecture, environmental responsibility, and technological innovation.

Setting a Benchmark for Urban Sustainability

The Inner Harbor project demonstrates how sustainable infrastructure can drive the transition to a greener urban lifestyle. By prioritizing safety, usability, and environmental considerations, Norrköping is leading the way in creating a city that supports both its residents and the planet.
