CTEK to officially join the UN Global Compact Initiative

Corporate

CTEK is joining the UN Global Compact Initiative together with over 17,000 companies worldwide, spanning 177 countries. The initiative is supposed to bring companies together for a sustainable and inclusive future. It is based on ten principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption.

As part of the initiative, CTEK is committing to the implementation of the ten principles of the UN Global Compact. CTEK will also be acting to support the sustainable development goals and provide an annual communication on progress.

Marcus Korsgren, head of ESG at CTEK said, “We are proud to be a part of this global initiative to support a sustainable future. Even though we are already working with sustainability on every level in our company, it does feel good to be a part of something bigger, where the business come together for a better world”

It is crucial for a company to implement sustainability in every part of the organisation to be corporate responsible. The corporate responsibility should define the organisation itself; it should have an impact on the principles, the value system, and the policies in an organisation. When you do business, it is critical to meet the requirements of fundamental human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption.

The 10 UN Global Compact principles:

Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and

Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;

Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;

Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and

Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;

Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and

Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
