Sweden's largest housing association chooses to charge with CTEK CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 2
Towering over Stigberget, Gothenburg, are 20 high rise buildings belonging to Sweden’s largest tenant-owner housing association, BRF Masthugget.
With more and more Swedes are choosing to drive electric vehicles (EVs) instead of traditional fossil fuel vehicles, BRF Masthugget had started to receive enquiries about charging solutions from their residents - both from those who had already switched to electric cars and wanted to charge up at home, and also from residents who were considering making the switch.
For many people looking to move home, the ability to charge their EV is an increasingly important factor. Having charge points installed at residential properties is a great way to meet the demand for the future, today.
“BRF Masthugget saw the installation of charging points as a good investment, and a way of futureproofing properties,” says Daniel Lindgren, technical manager at BRF Masthugget. “In addition, we believe that the opportunity for residents to charge their EVs in our garages, makes it a more attractive proposition for people who live in association housing.”
After carrying out extensive research, BRF Masthugget chose to purchase a number of CTEK CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 2 (CC2) units, one of the most flexible chargers on the market. Importantly, the CC2 has the ability to handle dual type 2 sockets/charging cables, meaning that two vehicles can charge from the same unit at the same time, with a single installation. And, as the CC2s are fully Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) compliant, BRF Masthugget can futureproof its parking spaces with a scalable charging solution that can be expanded over time.
"Our charge points can be accessed either through wall sockets or through units suspended from a ceiling, and we currently have around 80 spaces with charging facilities. In addition, Göteborg Energi has installed another 20 charging points in our visitor garages." says Daniel Lindgren.
BRF Masthugget has chosen CTEK’s online CHARGE PORTAL to remotely monitor, manage and maintain the network.
"We use CHARGE PORTAL for both monitoring and to collect data for billing," confirms Lindgren.
