När vi nu ser tecken på de kallare höstmånaderna börjar många av oss att fundera på att ställa undan våra husbilar för vintern. Husbilsexperten Andy Harris förklarar varför det är så viktigt att ta hand om dina husbilsbatterier under denna tid. 

”För många är den här tiden på året... slutet på säsongen. Du återvänder dit din husbilssäsong började, till husbilsförvaringen. Och det är den här tiden på året som är viktigast för att se till att dina batterier gör sitt jobb nästa år.

Om du lämnar dina husbilsbatterier över vintern utan att ta hand om dem alls, kan du komma tillbaka nästa vår och finna dem i bästa fall i dåligt laddat tillstånd, och inte särskilt glada, och i värsta fall kan du ha ett dött husbilsbatteri eller döda batterier. 

Och om du har en, lita inte på din inbyggda laddare. Om din husbil inte är ansluten till elnätet kommer den att använda ström från startbatteriet för att underhålla fritidsbatterierna, så det finns en stor risk att inte kunna starta din husbil när det blir varmare väder. Om du är parkerad bredvid elnätet och har en inbyggd laddare, kom bara ihåg att den här typen av laddare som vanligtvis är monterad i din husbil inte är en riktig husbilsbatteriladdare. Det är egentligen en strömkälla, utformad för att driva 12V-utrustningen ombord. Den laddar dina batterier men den kommer inte att konditionera dem. 

Och det är värt att komma ihåg att regelbunden laddning och underhåll av dina start- och fritidsbatterier kan förlänga batteriernas livslängd med upp till tre gånger. Så i vinter bör du ta hand om dina batterier om du vill garantera prestanda nästa säsong och därefter. Du måste hålla dem varma, torra och ge dem en härlig vintervila!
