4 tips för att förlänga batteriets livslängd i fordon

Med en global brist på nya bilar och ständiga problem med ökade levnadskostnader, ser vi att bilister behåller sina fordon längre. För dessa äldre fordon behöver extra omsorg vidtas för att hålla fordonets batteri i toppskick.

CTEK har följande tips för förare av äldre bilar, för att hålla fordonsbatterierna i bästa skick, förlänga batteriets livslängd upp till tre gånger och undvika kostnaden och besväret med fordonsfel.  

1. Batterirekonditionering  

Vi behöver alla regelbundna hälsokontroller när vi blir äldre, och ditt bilbatteri, som är bilens hjärta, är inte annorlunda. Ett batteri tenderar att försämras med åldern, och om ditt batteri inte fungerar korrekt, spelar det ingen roll hur ofta du laddar det. 2. Regelbunden underhållsladdning  

CTEK rekommenderar att du laddar ditt batteri minst en gång i månaden för att bibehålla en idealisk batterihälsa. Detta är särskilt viktigt om du inte använder din bil regelbundet, eller om du vanligtvis kör korta sträckor. Det krävs mycket batterikraft bara för att starta bilen, och om du kör många kortare sträckor kommer batteriet att urladdas. Generatorn kommer inte att ha tid eller förmåga att ersätta denna laddning. Att köra runt med bilen kommer bara att ladda batteriet till 80 % kapacitet, så för att fylla på det till 100 % behöver du alltid en batteriladdare.  

3. Anpassning till vädret  

En varm sommar kan ta ut sin rätt på batteriet utan att du ens vet om det, och detta kanske inte blir uppenbart förrän det kallare vädret sätter in, när du behöver mer kraft för att få igång fordonet. Sedan, under kalla förhållanden när temperaturen når fryspunkten, kan batteriet förlora så mycket som 35 % av sin prestanda, och upp till 50 % om förhållandena är ännu kallare. 4. Säker start
