Lithuania’s largest public EV (electric vehicle) charging station has opened in the Snipiškės area of Vilnius.

uniPark, Lithuania’s largest parking operator, has installed 40 CTEK CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 2 charge points in the underground car park at the K29 business centre in Šnipiškės, having invested near €100K in equipment and infrastructure, provided by CTEK.

Artūras Satkūnas, CEO of Stova, the company that manages the uniPark brand, said. "This is the first EV charging station of this size in Lithuania, and in the future we hope to install even larger ones.

Currently, uniPark offers more than 170 charge points throughout Lithuania and, by the end of the year, we plan to have more than 200. We are committed to become the TOP3 charging network in Lithuania, aswe have all the prerequisites for this – many parking spaces and a modern service management tool”.

“uniPark charging stations offer reliability, competitive pricing and a smart way of managing the service, with the equipment provided by CTEK, which is famous for developing electric car infrastructure and has more than 10 years of experience in the market.”

Users can find out the available charge points, book time, order services and pay for the amount of energy consumed using the uniPark smart app.

uniPark is seeing increased demand for public EV charging and, with the number of EV’s on Lithuania’s roads predicted to grow five times to 50,000 over the next three years, they are also seeing an increase in customers looking to have EV charge points installed at their own premises and facilities.

“The development of infrastructure is influenced by the growth of the number of EV’s, as well as the European Union’s Green Deal and goals set by Lithuanian institutions,” says A. Satkūnas. “Of course, people's desire to conserve the environment and the development of car technologies, which allow them to travel longer distances on a single charge, also contribute to this."

Currently, uniPark manages and administers 163 parking lots and zones with over 50,000 parking spaces across Lithuania.

According to data from Lithuanian State Enterprise Regitra, as of 1 July 2022 there were 10,372 electric cars registered in Lithuania - 6,232 EV’s and 4,140 plug-in hybrids. The Lithuanian Ministry of Transport is targeting for there to 6,000 public or semi-public EV charge points in the country by 2030.
