Exciting times with our parking partner APCOA in Germany, where new CTEK CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3e (CC3e) chargers are powering the next wave of charging in its car parks.

APCOA Germany is focused on providing AC charging at locations people park and spend time at during everyday life, making our CC3e chargepoints the ideal choice.

CC3e meets Eichrecht standards for legal metering and billing in public EV charging, supports the latest cybersecurity requirements and is future-ready for smart grid integration.

Believing EV charging should be available at urban destinations, APCOA Germany is expanding its charging provision at the places people work, shop, visit and stay – including at healthcare facilities, hotels and entertainment venues.

Current APCOA Germany projects using CTEK CC3e chargers include:

  • The SI-Centrum Stuttgart entertainment destination now has five new dual-outlet chargers for visitors to its theatres, cinema, restaurants and hotel
  • A second site in the city at Stuttgart City Garage will soon go live with the five new dual-outlet chargers installed
  • Charging has partially started in Berlin at the car park on Cora Berliner Strasse, near the Brandenburg Gate, where four dual-outlet chargers have been installed
  • And at the Augsburg Uniklinikum four dual-outlet chargers are in place, half of which are exclusively for use by hospital staff.

Further CC3e charger installations are scheduled in Flensburg and Freiburg.

The chargers for the exclusive use of hospital employees in Augsburg are passcode protected, which is a feature APCOA Germany worked on with CTEK. Drivers enter a PIN code via the touchscreen prior to using a card or app to start charging.

Felix Lopes-Tröscher, APCOA Germany's EV project manager, said: “We are excited to offer our customers a charger that is both modern and has a good track record regarding availability.

“Added features like the passcode enables us to clearly differentiate between public chargers and those which are reserved for clients who want their own chargers in our garages.”

APCOA Germany's strategy is to create scalable, reliable charging infrastructure in urban areas. Thanks to the new futureproofed CTEK chargers APCOA is able to provide exclusive, PIN-protected charging boxes for long-term parkers and fleets – reliably, safely and clearly assignable.

Germany is the latest APCOA market working with CTEK chargers, following Sweden and the UK. The partnership covers 11 European countries.

Andreas Byberg, Key Account Manager EVSE at CTEK, said: “Our launch with APCOA in Germany is a major milestone for CTEK, combining Europe's leading parking operator with our new public AC charger CC3e to accelerate accessible, high-quality EV charging in one of Europe's most important markets.

“Building on our successful rollouts in Sweden and the UK, this expansion strengthens our cross-European partnership with APCOA and reinforces our shared ambition to deliver seamless charging experiences for EV drivers across the continent.”

Car battery maintainers: keep your battery healthy all year

A car battery maintainer will deliver a controlled low current to keep a vehicle's battery in peak condition, making it ideal for vehicles which are parked for extended periods of time. A car battery maintainer, such as those offered by CTEK, helps prevent battery drain and extends battery life. This article explains what a battery maintainer is, how it differs from a standard charger, its benefits for seldom used and seasonal vehicles, practical setup advice for garages and car ports, and a spotlight on CTEK's NXT 5.

Road trip ready: how to avoid a flat battery ruining your summer escape

There’s nothing quite like heading off in a motorhome during summer. Longer days, spontaneous stopovers, coastal roads, mountain campsites and evenings spent outdoors – it’s what motorhome life is all about. But summer adventures also place extra demand on your vehicle’s battery system. Fridges run constantly, lighting stays on later into the evening, phones and devices are always charging and many motorhomes sit unused between trips.
